The Griffon Vultures of Capo Marargiu by Sailboat from Bosa
An afternoon on a sailboat to the cliffs of Capo Marargiu, home to one of the last griffon vulture colonies in Sardinia, with a swim stop.
The coast north of Bosa is home to one of the most important griffon vulture colonies in Sardinia: these huge vultures, with a wingspan that can exceed two and a half meters, nest on the cliffs of Capo Marargiu. With Laltroturismo you go to see them from the sea, by sailboat, in the afternoon.
What the trip is like
You board at 15:00 at Marina Nautica Pinna and sail north along the coast to Capo Marargiu. Around 17:00 you drop anchor for a swim, then return to Bosa at about 18:00.
Meeting point and what to bring
The meeting point is Marina Nautica Pinna, on the Temo River in Bosa, half an hour before departure. Bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a sweatshirt for the trip back. The skipper chooses the route on the day based on the wind: south or north along the Bosa coast.
Frequently asked questions
Are we sure to see the griffon vultures?
It can’t be guaranteed, as they are wild animals, but Capo Marargiu is their nesting area and sightings are frequent.
