Asinara’s Latin Sails
Laura and Giovanni sail the Gulf of Asinara aboard Il Professore, a wooden lateen-rigged gozzo built in Porto Torres: slow half-day trips, swims and a glass of Vermentino.

Asinara’s Latin Sails is run by Laura and Giovanni, who take small groups out of Stintino to explore the Gulf of Asinara aboard Il Professore, a genuine wooden gozzo with a traditional lateen sail. She was built in 2006 at the Pulese boatyard in Porto Torres by master shipwrights using age-old methods: eight metres long, three wide, and with a story that began with a Sassari professor who had her made to measure and later entrusted her to Giovanni.
You sail slowly, at the pace of the wind, with no more than 7 guests on board. There are two trips a day, morning and afternoon, with swimming stops in the loveliest coves, snorkelling, a snack of Sardinian produce and a glass of chilled Vermentino.
