Siapiccia is one of the smallest villages around Oristano: fewer than 400 people, about 18 km from Oristano, between Monte Arci and Monte Grighine, on the edge of the Barigadu. There are no grand monuments, but there's a landscape of rock, scrub and springs, a 17th-century parish church and winter feasts the whole community takes part in. A stop for lovers of quiet Sardinia and nature walks.

Things to do in Siapiccia
The slopes of the Grighine are covered in Mediterranean scrub, dense in places, and weathered rocks, with outcrops of quartzite once used to make dyes. They're ideal for walks and mountain-bike rides, easily combined with the trails of nearby Monte Arci and a visit to Fordongianus. History
The area was frequented in the Neolithic and the Bronze Age, as nuraghe remains show. The village began as a post on a Roman road between Usellus and Forum Traiani (Fordongianus); its name likely means “small road”, a secondary route compared with that of neighbouring Siamanna. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea, then to the Marquisate of Oristano. From 1947 to 1975 it was merged with Siamanna into one municipality.
