Zeddiani is a small farming village of about 1,100 people in the Campidano di Oristano, around 10 km from Oristano, among cereal fields, vineyards and vegetable plots. Its name probably comes from the Latin cellarium, the storehouse where grain was kept: a nod to its farming roots. Two fine churches, Vernaccia wine and the August tomato festival make it a pleasant stop while you explore Oristano and the Sinis coast.

Church of the Madonna delle Grazie
Founded in the 13th century and rebuilt in the 1600s, it stands out for its façade alternating pale sandstone blocks and dark basalt, a two-tone effect typical of Sardinian architecture.
Parish church of San Pietro
This 17th-century church holds a Baroque wooden altar with a statue of the Madonna della Neve (Our Lady of the Snow) in painted and gilded wood.
Couau and Urigu nuraghi
In the countryside around the village there are traces of Nuragic settlements, notably the Couau and Urigu nuraghi.
Things to do in Zeddiani
The flat countryside is ideal for cycling among vineyards and wheat fields, perhaps as far as nearby San Vero Milis. History
The area was inhabited in Nuragic times, as the nuraghi show. Over the centuries the village was called Cellayani, Cellevane and Seleiani. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Giudicato of Arborea, in the Campidano di Oristano district; after 1478 it passed to the Aragonese and partly to the Carroz family, and in 1767 it became part of the Marquisate of Arcais, until feudal rights were bought out in 1839.
Food and local products
Zeddiani is a land of Vernaccia, the amber, fragrant wine of the Oristano area, and of tomatoes and other vegetables. Local crafts are mainly linked to weaving.
